About Garrett the IV

Garrett the IV was designed to intake and control multiple game balls during matches. The robot featured a ball intake system that allowed it to quickly collect balls from the field and store them, giving the team strong control over game pieces. One of its intended endgame abilities was climbing by simply driving onto the climbing structure. However, this mechanism was affected by a design issue involving Velcro on the bottom of the robot. The Velcro was intended to help with stability during the climb, but the placement and type used caused it to catch on the field carpet, which interfered with the climbing process. Despite this challenge, Garrett the IV proved extremely effective in a defensive role. The robot was selected by the number one alliance during playoffs and was used primarily to disrupt opposing teams. In one notable match, it successfully collected and hoarded eight of the eleven balls on the field, placing them in its alliance corner to prevent opponents from scoring.
